The Beach

BURN!

Ron had a rare, but always enjoyed, Saturday off. We knew we were going to save the day to do something together, but we weren't sure of what. Eventually we decided to go to Newport Beach for the day. It was a very last-minute decision, but we borrowed an EZ-Up tent from the Broderick's and were ready for a day of fun in the sun.

Trying to be thrifty, we packed our own picnic and headed out. (again...gas alone was enough!) I talked to my Grandma on the way, and she gave me the "grandmotherly caution" of "...don't get burned..." Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just because I've gotten burned every time I've been to the beach this summer, doesn't mean I will now! Besides, I've finally gotten a base tan on my ever-pasty bod.

The weather was perfect...low-70's and overcast. Not too hot.

Once we arrived, I asked Ron to grab "the Mickey bag". "What Mickey bag?" he asked. "The one with diapers, wipes, Sunblock, toys, etc." I replied. "I never grabbed a Mickey bag." "WHAT? I thought you had it!" "Nope..."

Wanting to avoid trying to find another parking space, we decided to risk the sunburn instead of going to buy some sunblock. We had a great time, and never felt too hot due to the cloud cover in the sky.

We enjoyed a few hours of play, and then headed back home. To our dismay (and despite the majority of the hours spent in the shade by Blake and myself), we ALL GOT BURNED. I feel so bad that my nearly-2-year-old got burned just as badly as I did. I feel like I've totally abused my children! It's an awful feeling.

The rest of the day has been spent applying aloe to each other, as well as Ron and I guiltily reflecting on our poor decision.
NEVER AGAIN!

Just for fun, here's a picture of Blake in happier, less red days.

We are here, and so is SUMMER!

YUP...we're here.
I couldn't resist. As if e-mail, MySpace, new DVR recordings, the mail, and life weren't enough. I finally needed a blog to check up on and contribute to.
But we're a busy family, so I figure we have something to sha
re, right?

SO FAR
Our summer has been as crazy as Southern CA weather.

WEDDINGS

Ron and I went to Lake Tahoe together for our friend, Jackie's wedding over Memorial Day weekend. It was nice to spend some alone time, but I felt bad because Ron ended up helping me with the set-up. He did a great job, though! Oh yeah...and it rained! My poor friend had an outdoor wedding in the rain! But it wasn't too bad.

The view from our room

Our set-up...looks nice, huh?

Ron and his GQ face

There was also my co-worker, Deneka's wedding in Laguna Beach. It was a beautiful location, and we had a great time. Since it was a co-worker, the majority of our office staff was there, and it's always fun to see how your boss dances! Of course Ron was the cent
er of attention with his dancing. (Good dancing I would like to proudly add!) Although I did have to hold him down to prevent embarrassment from his Oh-So-Famous "wedding windmill".

T-BALL
Colin played on Upland American Little League this year on the Dodgers. Although he felt conflicted about wearing a blue jersey when he loves "the RED team" he did very well and made some good friends.

Graduation

Colin also graduated from Mulberry Early Education. Yay!
It's amazing to think back to when he first started in January of 2007. He was almost non-verbal and was anxious in social settings. In a short amount of time, the teachers at Mulberry have helped him through so many struggles. Now he's our chatter-box that not only memorizes EVERYTHING, but quickly learned that riding the bus is only scary the first day. Ü We are truly grateful for the angels among us that help our children through education.
Colin will continue with a mild Special Ed program
in Kindergarten that will strengthen his academic abilities.
We are so proud of you, Bubba!

THEME PARKS
We wouldn't be Silagyis (or Harding) without theme parks! Of course there's monthly trips to Disneyland (except when it's blocked-out July-August). We also went to Sea World complements of Disney. Thanks Mickey! While it was raining here in Upland, it was boiling hot in San Diego. We managed to talk Ron's youngest sister Kym into joining us. It was fun, but we were happy it was free. The cost of gas was enough.

WICKED!

The songs from this musical will be forever burned in my brain with enjoyment. I was able to enjoy this show with Ron's mom for my birthday last year. This year, as a gift from Ron for V-Day, I got to take a friend. Who better than fellow WICKED! lover Amy to join me?? We had a blast despite the not-so-great Fierro understudy. Our dinner at Subway was even better!
Thanks Ams!

As always
There have also been pool parties, picnics, family visiting, friends visiting and moving :(, and there is only more to come!

After all of that....

I've just realized that today is the technical first day of summer. Whoops.
